Lisbon - Caceres - Madrid (509 km)

In the morning, we will leave Lisbon as we make our way to Caceres. We will spend some time here visiting the Plaza Mayor and walk through the medieval Old Town. After lunch, we will continue to Madrid, where we will spend the night.

  • Old Town The Old Town of Caceres still features some of its original medieval walls. In the Middle Ages, control of the city was constantly switching between Christians and Muslims, and this struggle is exemplified by the architecture of the Old Town.

Madrid

After breakfast, we will visit some of the most iconic sites in Madrid, including the Gran Via, Plaza de Oriente, the Fountain of Cibeles, Columbus Square, Plaza de Espana, Puerta de Alcala, Paseo de la Castellana, and more. In the late afternoon, guests can continue exploring the city on their own.

  • Gran Via The Gran Via, oftentimes referred to as "The Spanish Broadway," is a central avenue in Madrid with some of the finest shops in the city, not to mention one of the most active nightlife scenes of any European city.
  • Plaza de Espana This large public square in Madrid features a huge monument to Miguel de Cervantes, Spain's most widely-read writer, that hovers over bronze sculptures of Cervantes' two iconic characters, Don Quixote and Sancho Panza.
  • Fountain of Cibeles The centerpiece of the plaza that bears the same name, the Fountain of Cibeles features a statue of an ancient Phrygian goddess sitting atop a lion-drawn chariot, who has been adopted as a symbol of the city of Madrid.
  • Columbus Square Columbus Square in Madrid is dedicated to the explorer Christopher Columbus, whose statue stands on a tall monument high above. The plaza features a second monument with quotes by philosophers and famous Spanish leaders and the Gardens of Discovery.
  • Puerta de Alcala This monument is designed in the neo-Classical style, and stands near Madrid's city center, reminiscent of the old medieval gates to the city, although this gate stands alone.
  • Paseo de la Castellana La Castellana is a wide avenue that cuts North-to-South through the very center of Madrid, one of the city's busiest streets, and home to some of its most famous buildings including the Puerta de Europa and the Santiago Bernabeu stadium.

Madrid - Toledo - Madrid (139 km)

We will spend the first part of today touring Toledo. This city is like an immense museum, containing some of the most famous Spanish monuments. We will explore the city, observing its unique blend of Christian, Jewish, and Islamic influences. Afterwards, we will return to Madrid.

Toledo, SPAIN Toledo is known as the "Imperial City" for having been the main venue of the court of Charles I, and as the "City of the Three Cultures", having been influenced by a historical co-existence of Christians, Muslims and Jews.

Madrid

After breakfast, we will enjoy the day at leisure to go shopping or visit one of the city's amazing museums like the Prado Gallery or the Royal Palace. We may also take optional excursions to El Escorial, Avila, and Segovia, or experience some of the lively restaurants and bars.

  • Prado Museum The main national art museum of Spain, this facility is lovated in Central Madrid and features one of the world's finest collections of European art dating from the 12th century to the early 19th.
  • Royal Palace of Madrid This Baroque palace is the official residence of the Spanish Royal Family, although it is only used for state functions. Built in 1738, the palace is nearly 1.5 million square-feet, and contains paintings by many European greats.

Madrid - Trujillo - Lisbon (509 km)

In the morning, we will depart for the city of Trujillo, where we will have some free time to explore and see the Plaza Mayor. Afterwards, we will cross the Portuguese border on our way to Lisbon, where the tour will come to an end.   • Plaza Mayor The Plaza Mayor in Trujillo is unique because of its uneven and irregular design. It is surrounded by buildings dating from around the 16th century. The Church of Santa Maria is a 13th century building that towers over the square.

  • Passport and visas: A valid passport is required for United States citizens. Citizens of other countries require a valid passport and may require additional documents. Such persons should contact consulates of countries to be visited and obtain proper documents before departure. The possession of required and valid passport and visas is the sole responsibility of the traveler. The Tour Operator assumes no liability for lack of proper documents.
  • Cancellation: Once a partial or full payment has been made, cancellations will only be accepted in writing. Cancellation terms will be applied based on the date that the written cancellation is received and based on the following dates prior to departure.
    • Cancellations received more than 14 days prior to departure - 10% of total purchase amount.
    • Cancellations received within 14 days - No refund.
    • No refund will be made for abandonment of services. No refunds will be made for transfers, city tours or any other services (including meals, accommodations or transportation) voluntarily not taken.
    • There is 6% handling fee add-on to the above penalties.
  • Responsibility: The Tour Operator holds itself free of any responsibility for any cause, in all matters connected with hotels, accommodations, sightseeing tours and transportation, whether by air, rail, bus, motorcar, boat or any other means. The Tour Operator and/or its agents will not be responsible for the loss or damage of any of the traveler's belongings. The Tour Operator reserves the right to accept or retain any person as a member of a tour at any time. Baggage and personal effects are at the owner's risk throughout the tour unless insured.

The Tour Operator and its agents shall not be responsible or liable for alterations of the tour itinerary or arrangement, if such alterations become advisable or necessary for the comfort or well being of any passenger, or for any reason whatsoever. The right is reserved to withdraw any or all tours or portions thereof. The sole and exclusive responsibility and liability of the airline shall be in accordance with and as limited by the contract of carriage in the passenger's ticket, the applicable tariffs, and provisions of the Warsaw Convention, if applicable.

Redemption

Complete operator information, including local telephone numbers at your destination, are included on your e-ticket. You must print and bring e-ticket(s) on your trip, as they serve as proof of purchase.
